Occupation: ex ROYAL AIR FORCE
Total No. of Collections: 63
Favourite HM model: 1/72 F-4 Phantom, A-1 Skyraider, F-105 Thunder Chief. 1/48 P-51 Mustang, F-4U Corsair
Reasons for Collecting : I've been collecting HM 1/72 - 1/48 models here in the UK since Gary from 'Tiger Hobbies' has been importing them. I use to collect 1/72 Dragon Wings WWII die-cast P-51D Mustangs, P-47 Thunderbolts, F6F Hellcat and so on. I found personally that there seemed to be a large gap in the 1/72 & 1/48 die-cast market in the range of types of aircraft from WWII to date, and also the lack of quality and attention to detail in other die-cast ranges that is until I came across HM die-cast aircraft.
As a collector I look for a certain element of realism in the model, for instance opening cockpits different ordinance & equipment that's appropriate to the model. Colour full squadron markings and squadrons that have military historical appeal and relevance i.e a good story behind them. For instance "DOUGLAS A-1H SKYRAIDER" VA-176 THUNDERBOLTS and the story of Lt jg W.T.Patton and his MiG-17 kill on the 6.21.1966. It would be nice to see Hobbymaster introduce other jets into the mix like A-7E Corsair II, English Electric Lighting, Jaguar Sepcat and so on . . . . . .
